Forrest W. Kobayashi is an online journalist and social media enthusiast. His main interests include exploring the social web and analyzing current media news and trends.
Currently, Forrest contributes freelance articles in sports for The Washington Post, Washington D.C.’s largest and oldest newspaper. He primarily covers local swimming events when he is in the Washington, D.C. area.
His experience in journalism also includes internships with the USA TODAY and Bleacher Report. While contributing articles for Bleacher Report, several of Forrest’s contributions were syndicated and featured on FOX Sports and CBS Sports.
Education
Forrest graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He completed a second major in Sociology.
After his first year at Ohio State, Forrest transferred to Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. During the summer before his third year, Forrest enrolled in classes at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where he took journalism and sociology classes for the first time. Forrest returned to The Ohio State University for his third year and graduated in June 2010.
Social Media Experience
Forrest is passionate about social media. Aside from being an active and avid Twitter user, Forrest co-founded the 140 Wave with Shauna Causey, a weekly discussion and analysis of current social media topics held every Wednesday evening over Google Wave.
He spoke on a panel about the impact of the social web on journalism at George Mason University in Fall 2009.
