2 million iPads. Without a doubt, that is a massive number.
And who would have thought? Critics of the iPad were rampant before and after the release of Apple’s greatest tablet invention. With the recent news reports reported by more than 500 outlets, it is confirmed that Apple has reached this incredible plateau. The iPads are still selling!
Regardless, it’s important to take a step back.
First, there is no viable alternative to Apple’s iPad currently available on the market. While there is a Google-Verizon tablet on the horizon, it is still not here.
Also, despite what Apple hopes, iPad sales will be bound to regress in the future. How far into the future is yet to be seen—and it is true that objects in motion tend to stay in motion (or sales, in this case), but eventually, the sales will slow.
Without going into too much speculation on the iPad’s sales future or what the iPad has that future tablets will probably not have, just looking at any news outlet makes it apparent to many.
Apple wants to keep the hype ridiculously high.
Try reading through the front page of any technology blog, and you’ll see the stunning sales number in the title. If Apple emphasizes that “everyone is buying an iPad” through a massive sales number, people will opt to jump on the bandwagon.
Through all of the hype in sales numbers and tweets you may see, it’s important to maintain your individuality! If you didn’t want an iPad before its’ release, it probably hasn’t changed significantly enough to warrant your hard-earned cash.
Will you purchase an iPad due to the high sales numbers?
